The NEFG members have a multitude of timber species in their Woodlands. Although our Hardwood plantations are quite young in their life we are constantly working on them removing smaller poorer quality trees to allow the final trees to reach magnificent quality saw log for our next generation to reap the rewards. During these operations, there will of course be some good trees removed and if you have any specific needs contact us.
Our softwood plantations are now close to reaching their final potential sale size. Our members have a broad range of species from Douglas Fir, Norway and Sitka Spruce to name but a few. We are also drawing up a list of potential buyers for standing timber sales of members timber. If you are interested in being contacted with details, please send your contact information by email to northeastforestrygroup@gmail.com.
Being a forest owners group allows us to have access to a broad range of timber types not normally available.
The NEFG now have three members with various fixed and mobile sawmills which we now are preparing timber for sale. One of our members is also installing a purpose-built kiln to dry timber for interior use. As we are now milling our member’s timber we are also grading it and have an inventory of all timber available in different grades and sizes. Our stock is constantly changing so please contact us to see if can we help you source genuine Irish-grown local timber. An example of what we currently have in stock is Douglas Fir. (Ideal for timber beam and cladding) Larch (Post and rail fencing and cladding). Large section or off standard size Sitka spruce.
Our hardwood section has some Oak, Ash, Beech, Sycamore, Cherry and Alder all in different grades and sizes. As our stock grows, we will also be offering more ranges of timber available.
If you wish to support a local community group who are committed to growing and selling their product please do not hesitate to contact us. If we do not have it in stock, we may be able to source it from some of the other Nine forest owners groups within Ireland.
