NEFG Storm Replanting event 31st March 2026 at 11 am

The NEFG are delighted to announce a storm damage replanting event near Kilmainhamwood  County Meath.
At this event the forest Owner Peter Farrelly will talk about how he has managed the recovery and sale of his Sitka spruce forest post storm Eowyn and then the task of replanting it again.

Peter, who is a leading light in the North East Forestry group since its inception in 2013, is a hands on forest owner and managed all aspects of these operations. He was a member of the NEFG organised tour of None so Hardy nurseries in Wexford. Peter will explain how he has chosen his replanting species and his replanting methods. We believe Peter is the first NEFG member to have removed storm damaged trees and replanted. He also is a member of a NEFG group certification scheme and has both PEFC and FSC certification on his forest .
Also in attendance will be Kevin O Connell from Teagasc to advise on current DAFM  storm damage replanting scheme. We will also have Peters registered forester Paddy Donavan. DMS Forestry who did the actual planting will also attending. This is an outdoor event so please ensure you bring waterproof coats and footwear. Here is the link to the entrance to Peters forest.

This event will be on Tuesday 31 March at 11 am.
