Teagasc Conifer Thinning Research Open Day

Teagasc Conifer Thinning Research Open Day

Date: Wednesday 4th September 2024

Meeting point: Ballinameen GAA Clubhouse, Ballinameen, Co Roscommon, F52 K795

Time: 2.00 PM

We will be hiring a minibus from Navan Retail Park (on Athboy Road Navan)

NEFG members do not need to register on Eventbrite for this event.   I have also included a link to a new Agroforestry booklet produced by the Irish Agroforestry Forum.

The Open Day will provide the latest Teagasc research updates for forest owners on the findings of Sitka spruce thinning trials ongoing since 2010.  The Sitka spruce crop has been thinned using a range of different regimes and the impacts assessed pre and post thinning.  The focus of the trials has been to observe the effect of different thinning intensities on the growth and development of the crop and to identify the most suitable regimes to maximise the production of valuable sawlog timber in the shortest possible time while maintaining crop stability and sustainability.  If you would like to attend this event, please e-mail back (on this occasion) to info@sherlock.ie or text me on 086 257 6864.
