Peter Farrelly is hosting a combined NEFG / Teagasc event in his forest on Thursday, 8 October at 11am, near Kilmainhamwood, Co. Meath.
The event will be facilitated by Teagasc Forestry Advisor Kevin O’Connell, with input from Peter and his forester, Paddy Donovan, who replanted the forest a year ago.
This event will showcase best practices in reforestation, with an emphasis on vegetation control, pine weevil management and funding opportunities. Peter will speak about his practical experience of clearing the windblow, preparing the ground, replanting, and the challenges he faced with vegetation control over the past year.
On the day, you will gain practical insights and guidance on:
- Felling licences and harvesting plans
- Ground preparation and optimal species selection
- Planting techniques and ongoing maintenance
- Funding possibilities, including the Reconstitution Scheme for Windblow 2026
