Everything You Need to Know – Next Generation Launch 6th March We are really looking forward to welcoming you to the Next Generation Forestry launch event, taking place on Friday 6th March in Balgeeth Forest, Kilmessan, Co. Meath. It will be a relaxed, practical morning outdoors, and we are delighted you can be part of the very first gathering of this programme.

The event runs from 10.30am to 1.30pm, with tea, coffee and a light lunch included. Guests are very welcome.

Location details:

· Balgeeth Forest, Kilmessan, Co. Meath

· Eircode: C15 HRA4

· Junction 7 off the M3

This event marks the launch of the Next Generation Forestry Programme, a new initiative designed to support those who are inheriting, or preparing to inherit, privately owned forests in Ireland. The morning brings together expert guidance, lived experience and peer connection, with the aim of building a supportive and informed network for the next generation of forest owners.

The morning will include contributions from:

· Martin Oakes, who will welcome visitors to his forest and share his family story, the type of plantation at Balgeeth, current management approaches and his experience of succession planning

· Kevin O’Connell, Forestry Advisor with Teagasc, who will outline advisory services, practical guidance for future forest owners and pathways for learning and skills development

· Dermot Byrne, Forestry Tax Advisor, who will introduce key financial and tax considerations around inheritance, succession and planning ahead

There will also be:

· Practical exercises

· Time for discussion and questions.

· Opportunities to meet others navigating similar decisions

We hope the event will be supportive, useful and encouraging, and a strong starting point for building this network together.
